Bulleted lists

Use bulleted lists wherever there are three or more items. They also bring clarity to complex sentences containing two or more points. Always use colons at the beginning. Never use semi-colons after bullet points. We use two types of bulleted list – a running list and one where the items form full sentences.

A running list is a single sentence. We use lower case letters and put a full stop after the last bullet, as in the example below.

The firm has a number of areas of expertise in the energy sector, including:

  • energy contracts
  • renewable energy
  • waste-to-energy.

Where each item in the list is a full sentence or more than one sentence, each one starts with an upper case letter and ends with a full stop, like the example below.
